『Sorok Island』는 20세기의 한국 기독교 역사를 살펴보고 한센병 환우들이 살고 있는 소록도 선교의 의의를 살펴본다. 소록도 그리스도인의 희망과 신앙의 눈물을 담은 이야기를 통해 빈곤의 진정한 의미를 잃고 예수님의 가르침을 잃고 있는 한국 교회를 되돌아보게 한다.

The Korean church has a unique legacy of faith and value that is worth being made known to the entire world. Even so, the church in Korea has recently been fighting against no small odds. It is losing the true meaning of poverty, losing a heart like Jesus that embraces the poor and prays, and losing Jesus’ teachings to reach out to the least of souls in society.

In this vein, the tear-soaked stories of faith of the Sorok Island Christians and their prayers of hope will hold a place in Korean Christianity and the nation as they face new challenges. In the Sorok Island churches established by the dear price of martyrs’ blood; in the legacy of faith that has penetrated through all forms of oppression and persecution and sprung forth; in the Sorok Island Christians’ prayers at dawn that have gone beyond the limits of their afflicted bodies, gained the ‘equal opportunity of prayer’ in front of God, and freely come and gone to and from God’s heart; and in the smiles clear as the sun and the sound of hymns lie the strength of recovery that can genuinely enlighten both the Korean church and churches worldwide. We desire for you to encounter the horizons that go beyond your heart’s capacity and the hope of Galilee in the prayers and hymns of the Sorok Island Christians.
