Desert Wonder Bars
Makes 3-5 soaps
These deeply moisturizing beauty bars boost both aloe vera and jojoba oil to repair skin damage and stimulate the growth of skin cells. Jojoba works much like the natural oils in our own skin while also reducing clogged pores. It softens, protects, and balances the complexion.

This soap is a great one to layer with different colors. Try shades of yellow and orange for bars that look like a desert sunset.

Instructions:
1. Place the cube of soap base in a glass measuring cup and microwave on high for 20 seconds, until it just begins to melt. Give the soap base a stir and continue to heat for 10-second intervals until it’s completely melted. Take care not to overheat. Carefully remove the measuring cup and place it on the counter.

2. Make sure you have your other ingredients prepared and your molds ready, as the soap base will start to harden as soon as you remove it from the microwave. Stir in the aloe vera and jojoba oil, blending throughout the soap base. Divide the soap mixture in half and mix in the coloring to two of the containers of soap base.

3. Pour the first layer into the mold and let it cool. You can place the mold in the freezer to speed up the process. Spritz with the rubbing alcohol (this will help the layers stick together). Pour in the next layer and let it cool. Spritz again before pouring in the third layer. If your soap hardens before you’re ready to pour it into the molds, reheat in the microwave for 5 to 10 seconds.

4. Let cool the bars cool completely at room temperature. Once cool, gently press on the back of the mold to release the soaps.

Tip:
You can substitute the jojoba for the oil of your choice. While you probably have olive, sunflower, and canola oils around, consider trying the more fragrant almond, avocado, and macadamia nut oil.
