저자 앨리슨 맥기(Alison McGhee)는 미네소타 미니애폴리스에 살고 있다. 아이들과 그림책에 대해 이야기하는 시간을 가장 즐거워하는 맥기는 첫 작품 『빛줄기』로 GLCA 문학상을 받았다. 대학에서 학생들에게 글쓰기를 가르치고 있고 『아주 용감한 마녀 』『왓슨 선생님은 네 이를 원해』 등의 책을 썼다.
