『Way Back into Korea』는 인류학자이자 고려사이버대학교 총장인 저자 김중순이 다양한 면모를 가진 한국의 역사와 문화, 생활습관, 정치와 경제 등 전 분야에 걸쳐 포괄적으로 소개하는 영문서이다.

한국의 역사와 문화, 생활습관, 정치와 경제 등 전 분야에 걸쳐 한국을 소개하는 영문 도서이다. 저자 김중순은 2007년 영문으로 저술한 [Kimchi and IT]라는 한국소개서가 아랍어와 베트남어 등 다른 언어로도 번역 출간될 만큼 균형적이고 중립적인 시각을 지닌 인류학자이다. 그가 이번에 저술한 [Way Back into Korea]는 전작에서 다루었던 주제에다 한국의 시세를 포함한 한국인의 기질, 문화적인 특성 등을 설명하는 내용들을 보강하고 이에 대해 고찰하는 내용까지 담고 있어 한국 사회의 다양한 면모를 두루 살펴볼 수 있다. 책은 ‘한국이 어떠한 나라인가’라는 질문에 명확한 대답을 제시하지는 않는다. 다만 여태까지의 한국을 형성하는 데 큰 역할을 한 요소들과 그들의 존재 이유에 대해 저자 역시 의문을 갖고 차근차근 고찰한다. 이를 통해 독자들 또한 한국의 내력과 특성에 대해 고민하며 저마다 ‘한국’이라는 나라에 대해 ‘한쪽에 치우치지 않은’ 대답을 스스로 찾아내게 될 것이다.
