The simple appearance of Korean furniture hides a complex assembly of joints, and great care had to be taken to produce the seamless beauty associated with traditional furniture. Natural glue and bamboo nails were sometimes applied to joints for additional strength, or to secure panels together. Metal nails were not used, except to fasten metal fittings.
