Honoring God through Worship

 

If I were to ask you, "What is the one thing your life was made for?" how would you respond? The way many people live, it would appear that the one thing life was made for is to make money. Or for other people, the driving passion of their life seems to be finding a life partner. Maybe even food or academic achievements are high on the list for some people. But the Bible makes it clear: all of life was made for the worship and honor of God. When we prioritize our greatest life purpose, we must never forget that we were made by God, for God, all for His glofy. This process of learning to have all of our lives as an expression of worship is what growing up in Christ is about.

 

Many people I talk with think that worship is just music or a time of praise at the beginning of a Sunday service. But worship is a lot more than music. It can actually be all of life that is dedicated and devoted to the Lord. John Piper once said, "The essence of worship is the inner experience of treasuring the true beauty and worth of God. And the outward forms of worship are the acts that show how much we treasure the beauty and worth of God. Therefore God created all of life as worship because he has told us, 'whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God'(1 Corinthians 10:31). Do everything you do in a way that expresses your treasuring of God." Our desire at Living Life is for each believer to see more of the beauty of Christ through His Word and to treasure Him as supreme above all other things. That is at the heart of a life that honors Him through worship.
