영어사전 욕심이 많은데 아직 관용표현 사전이 없던차에 구입한 사전이다.  이메일로 MP3 파일을 받았는데, 'ㄱ'부터 'ㅎ'까지 표제어와 그에 해당하는 예문 한 문장만 차례로 읽어주는 수준이다.  2000개가 넘는 표현을 녹음하기가 쉽지는 않았겠지만, 그래도 간단한 우리말 부연설명이 곁들여 졌더라면 더없이 좋았을것이다.   

많은 사람들이 영어를 학습하지만 그들이 추구하는 목표는 개인별로 조금씩은 다르다.  비지니스 영어가 필요한 사람은 좀 더 격식있는 영어표현을 학습해야 할 것이고, 영어권으로 말을 배우러가는 이들은 캐쥬얼한 구어체를 많이 아는것이 실생활에서 유용할 것이다.  그러니 남들이 한다고 무조건 같이 가는것보다, 자신에게 맞는 영어를 학습하는것이 생산적일듯 하다. 

이 표현사전은 미국인들이 자주 사용하는 Colloquial, Idiom, Slang 을 2000개 이상 담고있다.  요즘 많은 학생들이 영어권으로 어학연수나 유학을 가는데, 문법이나 회화를 선행학습 한다고 해도 현지에서 이런 구어체 표현들을 배우기 위해 시간당 20불에서 30불을 지불하고 튜터링을 하는 경우가 흔하다.  

요즘은 시중에 좋은 영영사전이 많이 나와있고, 단어만 찾아도 구어체 문장이나 Usage 등을 추가적으로 학습 할수있어 초급자들이 시작하기에 좋아 보인다.  하지만 영어 말하기가 절대적으로 필요한 중급이상의 학습자에게는 이 사전을 적극적으로 권하고 싶다.
