WOW is my first impression on this book.
Before reading this book, I have already read his latest blockbusters - The Da Vinci Code and Angel & Demon. Deception Point is inbetween them. So I thought I would not be disappointed. But this one is quite different from these latest successes. While these Robert Langdon sequels are about basically Art and Religion, Deception Point is about Science, Space Industry, and American Politics. Some Korean reviewers said it is a mere thriller that could be conveniently killing time during the long flight. I wouldn’t agree with them.
I believe it is more than that. It’s intriguing and thought-provoking. Yes, it’s somewhat ridiculous and far-fetched. Nevertheless, it’s worthwhile.
I would rate this book as the same level with Michael Crichton’s Techno thrillers.
It deals with a lot of different scientific subjects, from marine biology and astrophysics to defence technology and geology. It’s past-paced and has a lot of actions.
I know it may let Da Vinci Code fans down, but it is another earlier Dan Brown’s absolute thriller.
