인터넷서점 인터파크도서

책은 원어민 기준으로 8세 이상 대상으로 쓰여진 책으로 우리 나라로 치면 중학생 정도가 읽을 정도예요. 학생 수준이야 천차만별이긴 하지만요~ 중간중간 그림(원본에 있던 일러스트레이션이라고 하네요)이 들어가 있어요.

메리포핀스를 어렸을 때 정말 재밌게 봤던 것 같은데 이제와서 파일을 구하기도 힘들고 그래서 책을 한 번 사본 거예요. 책은 전체적으로 같은 인물이 나오고 큰 흐름이 있긴 하지만 매번 새로운 에피소드로 이루어져 있어요. 대략적인 인물만 알면 중간부터 봐도 상관없을 정도에요.

옛날 책이고 아이들이 좋아할 만한 내용이기도 하고 매 챕터마다 그 날 하루에 펼쳐지는 간단한 모험이 나오는 방식이기 때문에 흥미진진한 전개로 독자를 빨아들이는 책은 아니지만 메리포핀스의 특별한 능력으로 인해 생기는 이야기들이 소소한 재미가 있네요. Banks 가에는 네 아이가 있고 첫째랑 둘째는 정말 세상에서 둘째가라면 서러운 말썽꾸러기들이고 막내 쌍둥이 둘은 아직 아기이긴 하지만 손이 많이 가는 시기고요. 그런데 매리포핀스가 내니로 오게 되면서 부터는 오히려 메리포핀스가 아이들을 꽉 잡게 되죠. 아이들은 메리포핀스를 무서워하기도 하지 존경하기도 하지만 메리포핀스 옆에만 있으면 항상 재밌는 일이 생기니 떨어지려고 하지를 않아요. 메리포핀스는 동물하고 대화를 하기도 하고 하늘을 날기도 하고 메리포핀스가 가져온 가방에는 신기한 물건이 꼬리에 꼬리를 물며 계속 나와요. 보기엔 그냥 평범한 물건이지만 그 물건은 원래의 기능과는 전혀 상관없는 정말 기발한 능력을 가지고 있어서 아이들과 메리포핀스를 모험으로 이끌죠. 아이들은 정말 재밌어 죽지만 메리포핀스는 이런 일을 평생 겪어온 듯 마치 아무렇지도 않은 모습이라 아이들이 더욱 신기해 하죠.

인터파크를 뒤져보니 단권으로도 팔고 세트로도 파는데 세트가 특별히 더 싼 것도 아니어서 고민했는데 세트로 사길 잘한 것 같아요^^ 3권이 나란히 종이케이스에 들어가 있는데 종이케이스는 얇아요. 박스라고 하기보다는.. 그냥 과자 박스 정도? 느낌이지만 깔끔하게 정리가 가능한 것도 좋고 표지에 귀여운 일러스트가 들어가 있고 흰색이라 책장에 꽂아 놓으니 환하네요. 3권의 책이 통일감있게 디자인 되어있고 안에 일러스트가 중간 중간 들어가 있는데 개인적으로는 마음에 들어요. 일러스트가 있으면 어린애나 보는 책이라고 생각하기 쉽지만 어른이 보기에도 이왕이면 그림이 들어가 있으면 내용 이해에 도움이 되더라고요. 종이질도 원서에 많이 쓰이는 재생종이 같은 종이이긴 하지만 품질은 그래도 중간 정도는 되는 것 같아요. 종이가 조금 얇긴 해서 아주 어린 아이가 보다 찢길 것도 같지만 좋아요. 인쇄도 깔끔하고 페이퍼백 원서 답게 가볍고요. 원서 중에 종이질도 만화책보다도 못하고 인쇄 상태가 글씨가 너무 작거나 인쇄 중에 잉크가 너무 번지거나 등등의 이유로 보기에 피곤할 정도로 안좋은 책도 있거든요.

그런데 낱권은 총 4권인데 세트는 3권 뿐이에요. Marry Poppins, Marry Poppins Comes Back, Mary Poppins Opens the Door 이 순서대로 3권이 들어있어요. 인터파크를 소개를 보니 1권-Marry Poppins, 2권-Mary Poppins Opens the Door, 3권- Mary Poppins in the Park, 4권- Mary Poppins Comes Back 으로 되어있고요.
