They say that this novel reflects the time and people of 1920 in America. Actually I bought this book in 2005 because I've heard this a lot and thought this is one of the classic that I have to read.

At first, I really wanted to give up reading this further because I couldn't understand the structure of the sentences fully and felt depressed of not comprehending well. So I asked to other teachers and one of the instructor whether I should continue reading this or not.

I don't know how much I got to understand this (maybe less than 20%?) but now I'm happy since I can begin to read other books.

Today morning, seeing that I was reading this book, one teacher asked to me, "I have a question to you. Why is Gatsby great?" That was the question that I had when I'd bought this book. But after reading this book, I could guess why he is great and she also gave me the answer that he is great because he followed his sole goal to have Daisy in his whole life.

I think so too. Even though others pursued materials or money, he didn't. For him, money was just a mean to reach his goal.

I need to read this book again after a while.
