bought this book in the Philippines because one of my teacher there recommended me to read this.

This is about a family story written by an unwanted Chinese daughter, Adeline. She's lived since 1937 and when she was born, China was Qing Dynasty.

Her family had been happy until her mother died and father got married again to Niang who was born with semi-French appearance. She really hated her stepchildren and made them fight or be jeolous each other.

The little Adeline really wanted to be accepted by her parents but they didn't care about her at all.

But fortunately Adeline could grab a chance to study in Britain majoring in medicine because of her rich father in Hong Kong.

Anyway, reading this book, I could encounter numerous new words that is related to China and Chinese history. It was a pleasure to read this book getting to know Chinese history.
